Top 5 Things Admission Counselors Do On The Road

Through the fall of each school year, I travel…a great deal. We wake up early, catch flights across the national nation, and search the Hertz parking great deal for rental cars with backup cameras. During this time, I’m rarely at my desk, we’m meeting a great deal of awesome pupils, and learning about the cool and exciting things pupils are doing. However when i am not on an airplane or at the car that is rental, here’s what I’m probably doing…
- Interviews and Receptions and High class visits
Check your highschool’s hallways for our visit posters. You should see our poster outside your counseling office if we are coming to your school over the next couple of weeks. We are going to additionally be doing Discover USC presentations on campus and throughout the United States and abroad.
- Hoarding Pens
If there is certainly something you should bring with you a high school visit, it’s a pen. We will give you one thing to write on, but we do not provide something to write with. We give some pretty useful information at these visits, so it’s generally beneficial to write down a few notes. Last week I visited schools in southern Virginia. I started the week with about ten pens that are extra ended with two.
- Answering questions
We fork out a lot of time questions that are answering we travel (and really through the year.) But, when we are on the highway, this is our central mission. We attempt to answer all regarding the relevant question you have while we are in your town. SO, the best piece of advice I can give you is ASK YOUR ISSUES. It’s also more straightforward to answer questions when we are standing in front of you then to email us later.
- Sitting in my own car
We sit in my own car…a lot… Sometimes it feels like I save money time within my car than We do in the actual highschool. Often I’ll check Facebook (I’m old) or Snapchat, and make some updates that are funny this new filters (recently the bunny is my personal favorite.) Inevitably I become sitting within my car longer than I should when I’m (still) listening to Hamilton and trying down my most useful (browse worst) rap abilities. That reminds me! Anybody filling out of the Quick Takes yet? Remember, quick, sweet, and just be YOU! This isn’t trick.
- Consuming local but drinking Starbucks
Have any good restaurant recommendations that are not Chipotle? Send them our way! We want to explore cities and learn about where you reside. Understanding where you come from, helps us understand the application. We want to get a feel for the community and experience that which you experience on a basis that is daily. We tried a phenomenal Greek place last week which was in a completely random location…thanks Yelp!
