France vs Albania: Anthem mix-up in Paris at European Qualifier
Before they confronted France on Saturday at a Euro 2020 Qualifier in a, the national anthem was played for Albania.
Players looked bemused as they realised that it was the wrong anthem – Andorra’s anthem, according to the official website of UEFA – with camera images showing fans that were Albanian creating offensive expressions.
France coach Didier Deschamps talked with Albania coach Edoardo Reja as Jess Gil Manzano waited several minutes for the ideal anthem to be played at the Stade de France prior to beginning.
Then, when the suitable anthem was going to be played there was another awkward incident as the stadium announcer apologised to”Armenia’s lovers” and called on supporters to honor the”Armenia federal anthem” before realising his glaring mistake and saying Albania.

Deschamps provided a public apology within the anthem mix-up which led to a seven-minute delay as the match would not be started by Albania without the mistake being rectified.
“I apologised to the seat along with the coach,” Deschamps told a media conference.
“It is something that shouldn’t occur, but it happened. I understand the job of the Albanians and it’s logical that we waited before the Albanians would have their anthem earlier that game.”
