Negreanu, Three Bracelets, and Another Crazy Bet

Daniel Negreanu just tweeted about a bet he made with Ben Lamb stating he will win three WSOP bracelets this summer. The craziest part about the wager is that he gave Lamb even money odds. It wouldn’t be easy for the latter to get a better price since winning three bracelets has only been done by five people in the history of WSOP.
Why does the pro player believe he can do it?
You probably know Negreanu, who is a 42-year-old poker player, part of the Poker Hall of Fame. Money wise, he is among the most successful professionals ever with his winnings surpassing $33 million. Of course, he also has loads of experience but this surely seems like a mountain to climb ever for him.
Negreanu himself states that he is trying to push himself to do better with this bet. A lot of athletes use that strategy to motivate themselves and reach new heights. The bet is just a helping tool for Negreanu to stay on track. The main reason behind his strategy is the desire to show the world he is still one of the best players in the world.
WSOP Is The Peak Of Prop Betting
This whole situation is very common in the poker world. It looks like the millions of dollars the players are fighting for are not enough. Sometimes it’s not about the money, it’s more about the rush and the pinch of craziness.
We have seen many insane prop bets over the years and actually, this is not the first time a player claims he’ll win three WSOP events. Vanessa Selbst and Jason Mercier were in a similar situation last year. Mercier had to win three bracelets to collect the whopping $1.8 million. The big difference to the Negreanu situation is that Selbst gave Mercier 180-1 odds of him getting the three bracelets. She almost regretted it, though, as Jason won 2 in only a week and reached another heads-up only to finish second.
