On the rail – Online poker to be outlawed in Australia
In the near future the Australian government will most likely pass a bill that makes it illegal to play online poker and place live sports bets in Australia.
The Interactive Gambling Amendment Bill was submitted to the Australian Senate back in November 2016, and after rounds of hearing it seems that the majority is behind backing it, and thus ban all online gambling.
888poker has already withdrawn from the Australian market, and it’s likely that that the other major poker rooms like partypoker and PokerStars will do the same in the near future, should the gambling bill become a reality.
That faces Australians who have their main source of income from online gambling in the same shoes the Americans did in 2011 after Black Friday, to continue to play online they either have to re-locate to another country or take the more risky chance of using VPN`s to disguise their IP`s or just give up online gambling entirely.
